Cape Town - Lonwabo Tsotsobe only played in one match at the ICC Cricket World Cup but he did enough in that outing against Bangladesh to rise to a career best sixth position in the latest ICC Reliance Mobile ODI rankings.
These are the final rankings issued at the end of the World Cup and they will not change significantly over the next month as the Indian Premier League (IPL) becomes the centre of attention.
Dale Steyn remains the highest ranked Proteas’ bowler at No 4 followed by Morne Morkel at No 5 and Tsotsobe at No 6.
They are the three highest ranked seam bowlers as, not surprisingly after a World Cup on the sub-continent, the top three positions are all held by spinners: Daniel Vettori of New Zealand is rated No 1 followed by Ray Price of Zimbabwe and Graeme Swann of England.
Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers remain the two top ranked ODI batsmen and they are the only two with a ranking of more than 800 points.
Jacques Kallis has improved three positions to No 12. He is also the fifth-ranked all-rounder.
In the team rankings the Proteas remain at No 4 but are within striking distance of second-placed India and third-placed Sri Lanka. India’s World Cup triumph has reduced the gap between themselves and top-ranked Australia to 7 points.
