Top honours for cricket duo

Wellington - New Zealand cricket captains Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori have each received one of New Zealand's highest civil honours on a list announced Monday to mark the birthday of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.

Fleming, who coaches Chennai in the Indian Premier League, and Vettori, who captains Royal Challengers Bangalore, are both made Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

The 38-year-old Fleming was New Zealand's youngest Test captain when he was appointed to the role aged 23. He went on to lead New Zealand in 80 Tests and in 218 one-day internationals, both national records. He retired in 2008.

Vettori, 32, made his Test debut aged 18 and succeeded Fleming as captain in 2007.
