Bloemfontein - Opening batsman Reeza Hendricks smashed an unbeaten career record on Friday night, lifting the Knights to a convincing eight-wicket victory over the Titans in their Ram Slam T20 Challenge clash in Bloemfontein.

Chasing 136 runs to win, Hendricks combined with Rudi Second, who made 38 off 34 balls, in a 93-run partnership for the second wicket.

After Second was removed by Ethy Mbhalati in the 16th over, Hendricks strengthened his grip on the match.

The Proteas T20 player ended the innings on 76 not out from just 48 deliveries, cracking eight fours and a six for his sixth career half-century.

The hosts secured victory with 22 balls to spare to retain their place among the favourites for the domestic title.

Earlier, the Titans got off to a sluggish start after they lost the toss and were sent in to bat, with seamer Quinton Friend holding veteran Henry Davids to a maiden opening over.

Davids and Theunis de Bruyn soon got going, however, and combined in a solid 70-run stand for the first wicket.

Midway through the innings, De Bruyn was removed by Friend after contributing 38 off 30 balls, and Davids was run out three overs later for 45 runs from 42 deliveries.

Dean Elgar made 23 and David Wiese contributed a cameo 19, but after being placed in a position to let loose in the last few overs, Shadley van Schalkwyk, who took two for 26, led a late onslaught from the Knights attack.

The visitors made just 17 runs for the loss of three wickets in the last four overs, without hitting a single boundary, as they were well restricted by the home side.

The Titans continued to struggle, remaining without a win from four matches in the limited overs competition.
