Cape Town - Former Cape Cobras and Proteas stalwart Herschelle Gibbs flopped on his controversial Titans debut in the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge playoff against the Warriors at Buffalo Park in East London on Wednesday night.
Gibbs, 39, whose contract with the Cobras wasn't renewed for this season, replaced New Zealander Scott Styris in the Titans squad for the playoffs.
However, Gibbs' debut proved forgettable after he was bowled for a three-ball duck by unheralded medium-pacer Lundi Mbane.
The Titans went on to win the match by four wickets.
It is unclear at this stage whether the Titans will retain Gibbs' services for the final against the Highveld Lions at the Wanderers on Sunday, April 7.
The match is scheduled to start at 14:30.
HAVE YOUR SAY: Is it fair the Titans - or any franchise for that matter - be allowed to pick a player for a playoff match that didn't assist the team in reaching the playoffs in the first place? Send your thoughts to Sport24.
