Cobras hold out against Titans

Johannesburg - The Cobras held out for a 14-run win against the Titans in their RAM SLAM T20 match at the Wanderers on Sunday.

Set an imposing 208 for victory, the Titans could only manage 193 for four in their 20 overs.

West Indian Kieron Pollard was the pick of the bowlers for the Cobras with 3/22 in his four overs.

Despite an opening partnership of 151 from 96 balls between Henry Davids and Dean Elgar, the Titans' middle-order were unable to get over the line.

Davids was given two lives -- first dropped on 40 and then caught off a no-ball when he was on 63, before he was out for 72 off 48 balls.

At the other end, Elgar made 72, also off 48 balls.

Batting first, the Cobras scored an imposing 207 for five in their 20 overs.

It was also the highest total on the ground, eclipsing the previous record of 205 for five set earlier in the day by the Knights.

Through the efforts of Richard Levi and Pollard, the Cape side were able to dispatch the Titans' bowling attack to all parts of the ground.

Opening the batting, Levi raced to his half century off 22 balls as he shared in a second wicket partnership of 79 with Omphile Ramela (12). Levi was eventually out to Dean Elgar caught and bowled for 81 off just 34 balls with seven fours and seven sixes.

Pollard then took up the reins for the Cobras as he ended unbeaten on 72 from 36 balls, striking six fours and four maximums.

Elgar ended with the best bowling figures for the Cobras with 3/20 in his four overs.
