Cape Town - The Dolphins are through to the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge final after their semi-final against the Cape Cobras was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Kingsmead in Durban on Thursday.
Not a ball was bowled due to persistent rain, which had engulfed the east coast city for most of the day and through a frustrating evening for all those who turned up to watch the game.
The final outcome eventually meant that the hosts progressed to Saturday's T20 Challenge finale against the Titans in Centurion by virtue of ending above the visitors on the final log table.
It ended a forgettable season for Durban in the competition, with the match being the fifth abandonment in six games.
Rain had been predicted all week and the forecasters had been mainly spot on, with Thursday another gloomy day.
Umpires Shaun George and Allahudien Paleker waited until as late as possible - around 20:20 - before deciding to call off proceedings.
The Titans cruised to victory on Wednesday against the Warriors, after sealing an emphatic eight-wicket win thanks to spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.
Play on Saturday at SuperSport Park gets under way at 18:00.
