London - English county side Surrey has signed former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds to play in the national Twenty20 tournament.
The 34-year-old Symonds has not played for his country in 11 months but has a career strike rate of 156.79 from 56 Twenty20 matches and a high score of 117 not out.
He has also taken 35 wickets in the format at 32.94.
Surrey managing director Gus Mackay says Symonds "will inject real momentum into our performances and see us challenging for honors."
Symonds is currently with the Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League.
He has played in England for Gloucestershire, Kent and Lancashire, scoring a record 34-ball Twenty20 century for Kent in 2004.
