Warriors, Cobras rained out

East London - Heavy rain overnight and a persistent, steady downfall on Sunday morning meant no play was possible on the fourth and final day of the SuperSport match between the Warriors and the visiting Cape Cobras at Buffalo Park.

The Cobras remained on 400 for three wickets after 126 overs, and the game was abandoned as a draw.

The two umpires, Karl Hurter and visiting exchange official Prageeth Rambukwella of Sri Lanka, wasted little time abandoning the game on Sunday.

The field was covered with puddles around the boundary edges.

The Cobras earned four batting points from the match while the Warriors, who took only one Cobras wicket in the first 100 overs bowled, took none.

The Warriors remain rooted at the bottom of the SuperSport log after four matches.

They were without five of their usual bowlers for the match: Jacques Kallis, injured, and Johan Botha, Lonwabo Tsotsabo, Wayne Parnell and Juan "Rusty" Theron called up for the Zimbabwe series.

The bowlers used in the Cobras' match lacked penetration throughout the first day when only one wicket fell.

Nicky Boje captured two wickets on the second day, Friday. At one stage Boje was on a hat-trick, having bagged Stiaan van Zyl, 73, and Andrew Puttick, 193, with consecutive balls.
