Potchefstroom - The Titans bagged their third win in five games with a four-wicket victory over the Highveld Lions in Potchefstroom on Sunday to hold their lead at the top of the SuperSport Series table.
Set a target of 194 to win in their second innings, the Titans stumbled along, but eventually reached their target with time running out in the final session on day four.
Captain Jacques Rudolph top scored with a 60-run contribution in guiding the visitors to 194 for six.
Pace bowler Friedel de Wet led the charge for the Lions, returning three for 37 as the home side's attack put up a brave fight.
The Titans, however, had done enough and cemented their place as the frontrunners in the competition as they look to lift the first-class trophy for the fourth time in six years.
The Lions resumed their first innings in the morning at 171 for five, only 10 runs ahead after following on, with Neil McKenzie on 31 not out and Werner Coetsee unbeaten on 13.
And while he got little support, McKenzie did a tremendous job in trying to save the match with a superb century.
The veteran batsman made his 37th career first-class ton with a solid knock of 130 off 254 balls.
McKenzie was eventually removed by spinner Shaun von Berg who led the Titans attack with a return of four for 130.
The Lions are in third place on the log with only one win and have some work to do to stay in the title race.
