Durban - A seven wicket haul for Imran Tahir put the Dolphins in command in their SuperSport match against the Titans in their Supersport Series match played at Kingsmead on Thursday.
With rain clouds hovering about for much of the day, the home side bowled out the visitors for 242.
When the umpires suspended play because of bad light the Dolphins were on on one without loss, thanks to a no-ball from Ethy Mbhalati.
However, leg spinner, Tahir, was easily the outstanding player on the day, with leg-spinner taking seven for 112 runs.
Former Titan, gladly took up the challenge of putting his former team mates to the sword.
His first victim was Titans batting kingpin, Jacques Rudolph who he trapped lbw for 59 runs.
Though the Pakistani-born spinner leaked runs, the Dolphins captain Imran Khan persevered with him on for long spells and reaped the rewards as a result.

The only other serious partnership for the visitors was the third-wicket stand of 58 runs between Gulam Bodi and Ferhaan Behardien.
But Tahir eventually claimed the wicket of Bodi with a deliverybroke that found the inside edge of the bat and the ball popped up to Divan van Wyk at short-leg.
Kevin Pietersen was the mastermind behind that dismissal, he suggested to Tahir to bring van Wyk into the close-catching position.
Wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter; the Titans seemed to have earned a reprieve in the 70th over when the umpires stopped play due to poor light, with the Titans on 207 for seven.
However, conditions improved quickly and the players were back on the field six minutes later.
