Rain ruins Knights v Lions

Bloemfontein - The Knights reached 124/5 before play was called two sessions early on the third day of their SuperSport Series match against the Highveld Lions in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Scorecard: Knights v Highveld Lions

Dean Elgar was unbeaten on 66, reaching his 19th half-century as he stood firm for the Knights while the Lions dismissed four of his batting partners before lunch.

Heavy showers broke during the break, forcing umpires to draw stumps..

The Knights resumed their first innings at 11/1 in the morning, in response to the Lions' first innings total of 339/6 declared.

Rilee Rossouw struck a boundary before edging the ball to Dale Deeb at slip off Ethan O'Reilly's second ball of the day, and most of the top order followed suit.

Pace bowler Friedel de Wet removed the next two batsmen for eight runs each when he had Ryan Bailey and Adrian McLaren trapped leg before wicket.

Obus Pienaar (nine) also fell cheaply when Deeb had him caught behind by Thami Tsolekile.

Knights captain Ryan McLaren (18 not out) joined forces with Elgar and the pair shared an unbeaten 30-run stand before lunch.
