Philander puts Cobras on top

Scorecard: Dolphins v Cape Cobras

At the close of play, the Dolphins had 196 for six in their second innings, still trailing the Cobras by two runs.

Earlier, the Dolphins suffered a major batting collapse, and were all out for 162 in ther first innings - 198 runs behind the Cobras' first innings total of 360. Philander took four for 47, and Rory Kleinveldt three for 30.

Only Imraan Khan (35) and Ahmed Amla (38) made any meaningful runs. The Dolphins, who started the day on 84 for three, added just 78 runs to their overnight total before being bowled out before lunch.

Philander was in the action again in the Dolphins' second innings, taking two for 33, but it was spin bowler Claude Henderson that led the way with three for 58. Khan and Devon Conway shared a first innings stand of 69 before Khan was caught by Kemp off Henderson for 37. Conway made 35 before being stumped by Ryan Canning off Henderson.

The Dolphins lost four more wickets after tea, with Divan van Wyk (11), Amla (15), David Miller (15) and Loots Bosman (29), all losing their wickets cheaply just as they started to settle in.

It will be up to Jon Kent (31 not out) and Daryn Smit (15 not out) to try to put on a reasonable total, but the Cobras appear to be heading for maximum points.
