Johannesburg - South Africa's premier batsman Jacques Kallis was on Tuesday withdrawn from the Warriors team to play the Titans in a Supersport Series match in Centurion from Thursday.
Proteas media manager Michael Owen-Smith said Kallis had been withdrawn because the injury to his right hand had worsened during his four hour spell at the crease in South Africa's second innings against Australia in the second Test at Kingsmead. Kallis injured the hand while fielding in Australia's first innings.
All the Proteas, with the exception of Graeme Smith, who is injured, and Dale Steyn, who is being rested, were released to play for their franchises this weekend, after South Africa's disappointing performance in the first and second Tests.
They will reconvene in Cape Town next week to prepare for the third and final Test match, starting at Newlands next Thursday.
