The Lions boast an experienced line-up with the likes of Alviro Petersen, Neil McKenzie and Zander de Bruyn in the playing XI.
The home team also have an exciting new-ball pair in Ethan O’Reilly and Craig Alexander while wicketkeeper Thandi Tsolekile will want to remind the national selectors of his abilities.
But the Lions will have their hands full with a Dolphins team that includes Hashim Amla and leg-spinner Imran Tahir, a player of whom much is expected when he is sure to make his Test debut against Australia next month.
The Dolphins have also included two former Lions, all-rounder Robbie Frylinck and fast bowler Friedel de Wet, who signed for the KwaZulu-Natal franchise during the off-season.
