Kruger to make Warriors debut

Port Elizabeth - Former Highveld Lions fast bowler Garnett Kruger will make his much-anticpated debut for the Warriors against the Dolphins in a SuperSport Series match at Kingsmead starting Thursday.

Kruger returned to Port Elizabeth at the start of the season after a six-year period with the Lions.

The fast bowler played for Eastern Province between 1999 and 2003 but has yet to play a franchise match for the Warriors because of a calf injury.

Kruger is one of five changes to the Warriors team that was soundly beaten by the Cape Cobras in Paarl.

Proteas pair Johan Botha and Lonwabo Tsotsobe make a welcome return as does Justin Kreusch, who is back from a lengthy lay-off due to injury.

There was also a recall into the squad of 12 for Border all-rounder Darryl Brown.

Ashwell Prince and Makhaya Ntini have joined the national squad ahead of the Test series against England.

Corbyn Dolley, Athi Dyili and Lyall Meyer are the three players to have missed out on selection.

Regular captain Davy Jacobs is still battling a badly bruised hand and was not considered.

The squad is: Michael Smith, Jon-Jon Smuts, Colin Ingram, Arno Jacobs, Justin Kreusch, Johan Botha (captain), Craig Thyssen, Rusty Theron, Garnett Kruger, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Darryl Brown, Andrew Birch.
