Port Elizabeth - Nashua Titans batsman Pieter Malan scored a maiden SuperSport Series century, as the visitors reached 326 for the loss of six wickets after day one against the Warriors at St George's on Thursday.
When the umpires called time Mangaliso Mosehle and Morne Morkel were both undefeated on 22.
Malan scored 115 and stroked 20 fours off 217-balls in a 306-minute stay at the crease to beat his previous best of 66 not out against the Dolphins last season. He shared in a vital fifth-wicket partnership of 136 with captain Pierre Joubert who clubbed 56 runs with eight fours and one six.
Earlier, Jacques Rudolph steadied the innings with 61 at the top of the order after the Titans had won the toss.
After an indifferent start to the day when he bowled too many loose deliveries, Lonwabo Tsotsobe got it together later in the day and finished with figures of 92 for three in 24 overs. He dismissed both Joubert and Malan with the second new ball to bring his side back into the game.
Makhaya Ntini was the most consistent of the Warriors attack and probably deserved more than just the one wicket, that of Rudolph.
The fixture between the sides was rescheduled for Port Elizabeth after the intial clash in Benoni was abandoned due to an unfit pitch last month.
