Faf leads Titans to victory
Cape Town - Faf du Plessis completed a superb all-round match to help the Titans to a 202-run victory over the Warriors at Willowmoore Park on Sunday.
It was a result that put the Titans in second place on the SuperSport Series log behind the defending champions, the Cape Cobras. There is less than half a decimal point between the two sides with the Chevrolet Knights a further two points behind in third place.
Du Plessis took four wickets in each innings - a personal first-class best - in addition to scoring a century and a half-century in his two turns at bat.
He shared the SuperSport Man of the Match award with Albie Morkel who also scored a century and half-century and took five wickets.
The Warriors only managed to take the game into the fourth morning thanks to Jon-Jon Smuts who scored his third century of the competition and became the second player after Stephen Cook of the Highveld Lions to go past the 600 runs aggregate mark.
He came to the wicket at No 3 to face the sixth ball of the innings and remained unbeaten to the end (143 not out off 173 balls with 23 fours).
