Bloemfontein - An obdurate 110 from Dean Elgar -his fourth century in this season’s SuperSport-series - enabled the Diamond Eagles to reach 355 for six at the close of play of their encounter against the Titans in Bloemfontein.
The 22-year-old struck struck 13 fours and a six in his 208-ball innings, in a stay of four and a half hours.
When the players walked of the Oval, Morn van Wyk was on 58 - his 27th first class half-century and Charl Pietersen was on 15.
Earlier, the Eagles recovered from 107 for three to reach 228 for four thanks in no small measure to a fourth-wicket partnership of 121 between Elgar and Ryan Bailey.
Elgar was eventually out caught by visiting captain Pierre Joubert at mid-off from the bowling of Imran Tahir.
Joubert was in the action again when he rearranged Bailey's stumps with the middle-order batsman on 74, the batsman offering no shot shortly after the visitors opted to take the new ball.
Joubert was the best of the Titans attack taking three for 67.
His first victim Reeza Hendricks (26) trapped in the crease, followed by Bailey and Con de Lange caught behind by Heino Kuhn.
