Deacon rips through Titans

Potchefstroom - When bad light stopped play on the second day of the SuperSport match between the Highveld Lions and the Titans, played in Potchefstroom at Senwes Park, the Lions had a first innings lead of 481 and the Titans were staggering on 69/6.

Two centuries (Zander de Bruyn 144) and Vaughn van Jaarsveld (135) allowed the Lions to declare their first innings closed on 550/7 after resuming on 352/4 on the second day4.

The Titans had to rely on their slow bowlers to stem the Lions tide, with little success.

Lions opening bowler Cliffie Deacon ripped the heart out of the Titans line-up and took 4/23 in his ten overs.

The only Titans batsman who could handle the accurate swing bowling of Deacon was Heino Kuhn who was undefeated on 35 when play was called for the day.
