Cape Town - Malusi Siboto claimed seven wickets on day one of the Jukskei derby to leave the Titans well in charge of their Sunfoil Series clash against rivals the Highveld Lions at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Thursday.
The right-arm seamer recorded figures of 7/48 in 20.3 overs, a fourth career five-for, as the visitors shot out their hosts for 206, before then reaching an early stumps on 34/0.
Proteas allrounder Dwaine Pretorius continued his excellent run with the bat by top-scoring for the Lions with 72 (124 balls, 11 fours) – he has now scored 364 runs at an average of 72.80.
But he lacked support after the home side had won the toss and batted first.
The only other substantial contributions came from Mangaliso Mosehle (41) and Yaseen Valli (40), with four batsmen falling for ducks.
Unlike the Lions, the Titans’ bowlers provided good support for Siboto, who switched franchises when he moved from the Knights in the off-season.
Rowan Richards took 2/55 in 19 overs and David Wiese chipped in with 1/44 in 14 – the home side rolled over in 67.3 overs.
Heino Kuhn raced to 27 in just 23 balls and Aiden Markram (7) was with him when bad light ended play with almost 20 overs still to go.
