Hendricks ton gives Lions day one advantage

Cape Town - A century from Reeza Hendricks helped the Highveld Lions command the opening day of their Sunfoil Series encounter against the Knights at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Monday.

The right-hander made 108 (200 balls, 21 fours) – his 12th career century – as the hosts racked up 308 for four after winning the toss and batting.

Hendricks shared in a big second wicket stand of 118 with Omphile Ramela, who made 65 (159 balls, 10 fours), after the early dismissal of captain Stephen Cook (14).

There was also a 71-run stand between Rassie van der Dussen, unbeaten on 62 (103 balls, 11 fours), and Nicky van den Bergh (34) for the fourth wicket.

Wiaan Mulder (18) was the other unbeaten batsman at the close.

Patrick Kruger was the pick of the bowlers with one for nine, while the other wickets went to Theunis de Bruyn (1/16), Ottniel Baartman (1/60) and Marchant de Lange (1/69).
