Wiese stars as Titans finish runners-up

Cape Town - A consummate bowling display on the final day from The Titans allowed them to seal an eight-wicket victory over the Knights at SuperSport Park and beat the Dolphins to second place in the Sunfoil Series.

While Marchant de Lange's 4 for 50 were the standout figures, Ethy Mbhalati, David Wiese and Rowan Richards all provided excellent support and finished with a couple of wickets apiece as the Knights fell from 119 for three to 178 all out in their second innings.

Needing just 24 runs to win the game, the hosts lost Theunis de Bruyn first ball to Dillon du Preez and then Henry Davids to the same bowler, before wrapping up a comprehensive victory.

With the Dolphins losing to the Cobras, the Titans were able to move ahead and finish as runners-up to the Lions, while the Knights had to settle for fifth.

De Lange had already picked up a brace of wickets on the third evening to send the Knights to stumps on 97 for three, but the hosts still appeared to have plenty of work to do if they were to wrap up victory on the final day.

However, once Reeza Hendricks had been caught and bowled by De Lange for 74 and Pite van Biljon (36) was caught behind off the bowling of Mbhalati (2 for 22), the Knights folded swiftly - in all, less than 20 overs were required to pick up the last seven wickets.

Wiese was named man of the match for his 107 in the first innings as well as match figures of 8 for 99.
