Durban - The Warriors face a stiff task to hold off the Dolphins on the final day of their Sunfoil Series match at Kingsmead after going to stumps on Saturday trailing by 85 runs with just four wickets in hand.

After the Dolphins extended their first-innings lead to 253 on the third morning, Kyle Abbott, Daryn Dupavillon and Keshav Maharaj claimed two wickets apiece to leave the Warriors 168 for six at the close of play.

Divan van Wyk and David Miller had put the Dolphins miles ahead in the match on day two, and Morné van Wyk took them over the horizon on Saturday as he struck 50 to carry the Dolphins to 426 all out in their first innings.

Maharaj struck the first and third blows with the ball for the Dolphins as he trapped Michael Price lbw and bowled David White, while Dupavillon followed up his five-wicket haul in the first innings with the early scalp of Vuyisa Makhaphela.

After Abbott had removed the key duo of Colin Ingram and Ashwell Prince, Dupavillon struck again when he bowled Ryan Bailey to reduce the Warriors to 101 for six.

Davy Jacobs led the recovery for the second time in the match as he notched up an unbeaten 43, and was ably supported by Simon Harmer, who was 28 not out at stumps.

However, with little batting to follow, the pair will need to bat for at least a session on the final day if the Warriors are to stave off defeat.
