Rain thwarts Dolphins

East London - The Dolphins were denied a crack at a much-needed Sunfoil Series victory as day four of their clash with the Warriors at Buffalo Park was largely lost to rain.

Just 23 overs were possible on Sunday, which was long enough for the Dolphins to pick up three Warriors wickets after declaring on their overnight total of 257/8 to set the Warriors 357 to win.

At one stage it appeared as though the Dolphins might roll through their hosts as Robbie Frylinck reduced them to 30/3, but Michael Price (37 not out) and Colin Ingram (12 not out) led a recovery that saw the Warriors to 70/3 when the rain arrived.

With the weather setting in, the match officials called the rest of the day off shortly after lunch, leaving Frylinck with figures of 3-20 after he had dismissed David White, Colin Ackermann and Ashwell Prince.

With the Cape Cobras beating the Titans at Boland Park to extend their lead at the top of the table, the rain-affected draw was a major blow to the Dolphins’ title hopes.
