Dolphins v Knights abandoned

Cape Town - The Dolphins and Knights have had their Sunfoil Series match in Pietermaritzburg abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Each team has been awarded five points after bad weather and a wet pitch all played a part in the teams not being able to play.

Prospects of play got off to a rather grim start on Thursday as rain persisted and a pitch cover having blown off the night before resulted in the pitch getting wet. Play was called off for the day without the toss taking place.

Rain stayed away on Friday but, with overcast conditions still lingering, the crease had no chance to dry. On Saturday, the pitch had spent all day in the sun but by Sunday morning, umpires decided to abandon the match as conditions were not fit to play.

Play was called off without the toss taking place or a ball being bowled.
