Struggling Lopsy leaves Essex

Johannesburg - Proteas seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been released from his contract with Essex a week ahead of schedule by mutual consent between the two parties.

Essex did not pick the left-hander for their current match against Middlesex and they are not intending to select him for next week's fixture against Gloucestershire either, which is the last one to fall within Tsotsobe's contract period.

Another Protea in action on the county circuit, Alviro Petersen, who is captaining Glamorgan, made his maiden double century on Wednesday against Surrey at The Oval. This was his 20th first-class century and his career best 210 came off 352 balls with 24 fours and a six.

Earlier in the season he made 91 against Leicestershire.

Petersen has led Glamorgan to their best start to the season for some time with three outright victories in Division Two of the County Championship.
