Paarl - South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in the first One-Day International against Sri Lanka at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday.
The match, the first in a five-game series, sees AB de Villiers take charge of South Africa’s one-day squad for the first time.
All-rounder Albie Morkel makes his Proteas’ return after an absence of just over a year while left-arm spinner Robin Peterson has been preferred to off-spinner Johan Botha.
Sri Lanka have been boosted by the inclusion of fast bowler Lasith Malinga and seamer Nuwan Kulasekara, neither of whom played in the recent Test series between the two countries. Spinner Ajantha Mendis is given his first competitive run of the tour.
