East London - Proteas bowler Rory Kleinveldt will miss the rest of the ODI series against Sri Lanka following an injury to his left quadricep muscle.
Kleinveldt will be out of action for up to six weeks and a decision on naming a replacement will only be taken after the second ODI taking place at Buffalo Park on Saturday.
Team manager, Mohammed Moosajee said: “It is an unfortunate setback for Rory (Kleinveldt), he joined the squad with a reported strained quadricep muscle after a SuperSport Series match for the Cape Cobras and upon further inspection an ultra-sound scan detected a tear, which the medical team did not want to aggravate.”
