Faf du Plessis, who scored a career-best 72 for the Proteas in his 16th ODI as they sneaked home on the Duckworth/Lewis method to go 3-0 up with two to play, told his followers: “Great series win for us last night ... thanx so much for all the messages.
“Really means a lot. No injury, just cramps. #seriouscramping.com”
Du Plessis first felt discomfort during another influential, electric performance by the 27-year-old in the field, and was later run out as he scrambled to complete a single while clearly inhibited by the cramps.
But he will presumably now take his place in the Kimberley day/nighter, as South Africa seek to drive home further their advantage and stay interested in a clean sweep.
The final game is a daytime affair at the Wanderers on Sunday.
