Shakib on fire for Bangladesh

Dhaka - Pakistan reached 87-1 to trail Bangladesh in their first innings by 251 runs at stumps on the second day of the second Test.

After Bangladesh were dismissed for 338, Pakistan batted for 27 overs before bad light forced umpires to call it a day.

After losing opener Mohammad Hafeez on 14, Taufeeq Umar remained unbeaten on 44 with Azhar Ali on 26 at stumps.

Nazmul Hossain (1-28) took the wicket of Hafeez, who was caught by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Earlier, Pakistan's Aizaz Cheema and Umar Gul took three wickets each to dismiss Bangladesh.

Saeed Ajmal also claimed two wickets for the visitors, conceding 64 runs.

Cheema finished with 3-73, while Gul claimed 3-102.

Shakib Al Hasan smashed 144 runs to lead Bangladesh before being run out by Umar in the second session.

Shakib added 82 runs with partner Mushfiqur Rahim in a sixth-wicket stand a day after he and Shahriar Nafees tallied 180 - Bangladesh's first century partnership in Tests in more than a year.

Immediately after Shakib's dismissal, Rahim lost his concentration and nipped a lengthy delivery from Gul outside leg stump that was caught by Adnan Akmal.

Bangladesh then quickly lost their remaining wickets, adding only 33 runs.

Pakistan lead the two-Test series 1-0 after the visitors beat Bangladesh by an innings and 184 runs in the first Test in Chittagong.
