SL scrap T20 tournament

Colombo - The second edition of Sri Lanka's Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament has been cancelled because of a lack of interest from the franchises.

Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement Wednesday that the franchises have failed to pay their fees and bank guarantees to secure player payments, forcing the cancellation of the event scheduled for August.

The tournament was first played last year and had moderate success with the participation of seven franchises.
