18 Jul 2014

STUMPS ON DAY 3: That wicket has also brought up the end of the day's play with the hosts trailing South Africa by 172 runs and one wicket in hand.

18 Jul 2014

OUT! Lakmal has to go for 6.

Sri Lanka 283/9 after 100 overs.

18 Jul 2014

STEYN WORRY FOR SA

Dale Steyn is off injured for South Africa. It appears he may have injured his hand again...

18 Jul 2014

The second new ball is not even an over old yet, but leg-spinner Tahir will keep bowling...

18 Jul 2014

It would have been tough to see if Herath got an edge onto that pull shot of Morkel...

18 Jul 2014

Caught behind appeal by Morkel against Herath. Given not out by Billy Bowden.

South Africa have no reviews left so can't review it.

18 Jul 2014

Finally, after 97.2 overs, the Proteas have opted to take the second new ball!

18 Jul 2014

Morkel back into the attack to bowl the 98th over. About 5 overs remaining in the day.

18 Jul 2014

Steyn still bowling with the old ball, by the way...

18 Jul 2014

Herath slashes Steyn past point and all the way to the boundary...

18 Jul 2014

Suranga Lakmal is the new man in for Sri Lanka.

18 Jul 2014

WICKET! Tahir clean-bowls Mathews for 89.

Sri Lanka 272/8 after 95 overs.

18 Jul 2014

NOT OUT! Replays show it pitched outside leg stump and would have missed the stumps as well.

South Africa have no reviews left.

18 Jul 2014

Massive LBW appeal by Tahir against Mathews. Given not out, but South Africa review it.

18 Jul 2014

STILL NO NEW BALL!

Dale Steyn is back into the attack in the 92nd over, but with the old ball.

18 Jul 2014

Duminy comes on to replace Elgar. Still no new ball...

18 Jul 2014

OVERS 90: SL 265/7

Run-rate: 2.94 per over.

18 Jul 2014

Mathews punches Elgar through the covers for another boundary.

This brings Sri Lanka's total to 257, which means they have avoided the follow-on.

18 Jul 2014

NOT OUT! Replays show the ball went from Herath's bat into the ground so umpire Billy Bowden overturns his own decision.

18 Jul 2014

WICKET?! Herath is given out, caught at slip by De Villiers off the bowling of Tahir.

He reviews the decision.

18 Jul 2014

250 up for Sri Lanka, coming off 524 balls.

Also the 50 PARTNERSHIP between Mathews and Herath, coming off 71 balls.

18 Jul 2014

SL 245/7 after 87 overs. They need 11 more runs to avoid the follow-on.

18 Jul 2014

Mathews sweeps Elgar to the boundary for yet another boundary... This is becoming too easy now. Get Steyn back on.

18 Jul 2014

OVERS 85: SA 240/7

Run-rate: 2.82 per over.

18 Jul 2014

While it looks like Sri Lanka may avoid the follow on, I highly doubt that South Africa would have enforced it in any case. This is not a pitch that you want to be batting last on...

18 Jul 2014

Mathews punishes a short Elgar delivery through the off side for four...

SL 233/7. 23 more needed to avoid the follow on.

18 Jul 2014

NOT OUT! Replays show the ball pitched outside leg stump so it cannot be given out. It would have hit leg stump though...

18 Jul 2014

Massive LBW appeal by Tahir against Mathews. Billy Bowden says not out.

South Africa review the decision...

18 Jul 2014

Sharp turn for Elgar as he beats the outside edge of Mathews' bat...

18 Jul 2014

The Proteas have not opted to take the second new ball after 80 overs, but Elgar is on to replace Morkel.

18 Jul 2014

DRINKS BREAK: OVERS 80: SL 229/7

Run-rate: 2.86 per over

The second new ball is now available.

18 Jul 2014

After Morkel's disaster over, Amla may now be forced to take the second new ball immediately...

18 Jul 2014

No less than 20 runs from that last Morkel over! When he loses the plot, he really loses it...

18 Jul 2014

FOUR MORE. Again through the covers.

18 Jul 2014

FOUR MORE! This time it's through the covers. It's also the HALF-CENTURY for Mathews, coming off 114 balls.

It's his 15th Test 50.

18 Jul 2014

Now Mathews pulls Morkel for four... Morkel bowling too short!

18 Jul 2014

Next ball, Mathews slaps Morkel through cover. Same result.

18 Jul 2014

Mathews smashes Morkel past mid-on for four. He's clearly decided to have a go now...

18 Jul 2014

Mathews sweeps Tahir to the long-on boundary. One bounce, and four...

18 Jul 2014

For some reason, Tahir has now come on to replace Steyn...

18 Jul 2014

I think it's safe to say that captain Amla will hold back the new ball for just a wee bit. They are eligible to take it after 80 overs.
