  • Over 27 SL 138/3 (Dilshan 77, Jayawardene 6) - Tahir is bowling well here, disguising the googly, and this pair plays spin well. Three singles and then Mahela is trapped in front of his stumps. Mahela goes for the review straightaway, the third umpire thinks that Mahela inside edged it so the decision is overturned.

  • Over 26 SL 134/3 (Dilshan 75, Jayawardene 4 - Duminy continues, a couple of singles from the first two balls. Another misfield from South Africa, Sri Lanka get a bonus single, AB the culprit this time. Three singles from the over.

A single to end a good over for Sri Lanka.

  • Over 11 SL 71/2 (Dilshan 52, Thirimanne 4) - Time for some leg-spin, with Tahir introduced. He clinched three key wickets in the series opener, and will benefit from more turn at this ground - not much extra bounce, though. Too short for now, though, but Dilshan misses out on the pull.

  • Over 10 SL 66/2 (Dilshan 50, Thirimanne 1) - HALF-CENTURY! The mandatory opening 10-over powerplay concludes, as Dilshan takes his cue to reach the 37th(!) half-ton of a genuinely prolific career. The job is not done, he will insist, as three figures beckon.

  • Over 9 SL 63/2 (Dilshan 48, Thirimanne 0) - WICKET! Big breakthrough for the Proteas, this. The veteran Sangakkara is tempted outside on the glance, succeeding only in edging a straightforward catch to de Kock. The wicketkeeper is elated, as he should be. Morkel the man with a plan there, but that was a bit of snaffle down the leg-side - admittedly. Dilshan watches from the other end in dismay. He probably would've pulled that length through the off-side. Thirimanne is the new man in, promoted to position four today. Mathews said they wouldn't tinker with the order, but they have.

  • Over 7 SL 53/1 (Dilshan 38, Sangakkara 7) - tbc.

  • Over 2 SL 18/0 (Dilshan 10, Perera 7) - Dilshan very eager to get off to a veritable blitzkrieg start, but timing is lacking Nice and tight from Philander.

  • Over 1 SL 7/0 (Dilshan 6, Perera 1) - Steady enough start for the Sri Lankas, who must justify this decision to bat first. Steyn needs to bowl less straight, rather attack outside the off-stump.

  • Team News - No changes in either XI, South Africa have avioded playing a second specialist spinner, while the hosts won't open the batting with Jayawardene after all.

  • Over 9 SL 63/2 (Dilshan 43, Thirimanne 0) - WICKET!

  • Over 8 SL 58/1 (Dilshan 43, Sangakkara 7) - And to think, Sri Lanka were toying with the idea of opening the batting with Jayawardene today. Dilshan is doing a mighty fine job, now pivoting to pull McLaren high and hard through square-leg for four.

  • Pitch Report - The pitch is dry with a few cracks on it so it should be good for batting. South Africa will be chasing a total today, so Sri Lankan spinners could prove a handful.

  • Toss: Toss - Sri Lanka win the toss and elect to bat first. Both teams are unchanged.

  • Greetings - Hello and welcome to our coverage of the 2nd ODI from Pallekele. South Africa are 1-0 up and the hosts are under pressure. The South African fielding was intense and accurate in the last ODI, whereas Sri Lankans were sloppy and missed a couple of chances. They will have to come back strongly today to keep the series alive.
