Cape Town - Gary Kirsten has joined the Proteas squad ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka starting in Colombo on Thursday.

The former Proteas coach has previously been used as a strategic and batting consultant on an ad hoc basis, since relinquishing his head coach position with the national team last year.

The arrangement was confirmed prior to the start of the two-Test series, and will continue throughout the season.

Kirsten will be with the team until the second day of the Test match.
