Proteas ruin Australia Day

Cape Town - The Proteas have romped to an overwhelming victory in Adelaide against Australia - and clinched the ODI series in the process.

Chasing 223 for victory, the Proteas were never in trouble after a blistering start by Herschelle Gibbs (38 off 29 balls).

Jacques Kallis fell for 13 before Hashim Amla (80 not out) and AB de Villiers (82 not out) steered South Africa to an eight wicket win with an incredible 71 balls to spare.

South African clinched the series 3-1 with the fifth and final ODI scheduled for Perth on Friday.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia stumbled their way to 222 all out after 48 overs in the fourth ODI against South Africa.

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting top scored with 63 while Dale Steyn (3-49) and Makhaya Ntini (3-53) were the pick of the SA bowlers. SA captain Johan Botha weighed in with 2-28 in his 10 overs.
