Stellenbosch - The South African pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Ngazibini Sigwili bowled superbly up front and again at the death to set up a six-wicket victory over England in the fourth youth under-19 ODI at the Coetzenburg Oval on Thursday.
The result was decided by the Duckworth/Lewis method as unseasonable rain and bad light disrupted play for much of the day.
South Africa now lead the series 4-0 with the final match to be played at Newlands on Thursday (10:00 start).
England, who won the toss, decided to bat first and looked on their way to a big total when Cullum Jackson and Kishen Velani added 133 for the second wicket in 37 overs. But they were unable to build on this start and South Africa restricted England to 45 runs in the last 9 overs to see their total restricted to 205/8. With one over lost to rain the target for South Africa was adjusted to 208 for victory.
Velani made 78 off 93 balls with 3 fours and a six and Jackson 61 off 119 balls with 1 four and a six. No. 10 batsman Gavin Griffiths was the only other player to reach double figures.
Rabada finished with 3/35 and Sigwili with 4/34 and between them they took 7/69 in 20 overs. Sigwili was named man-of-the- match for his effort.
South Africa were always head of the D/L rate in spite of losing two early wickets. Clyde Fortuin and Jason Smith set up the chase with a third-wicket partnership of 56 in 15 overs and, when rain and bad light interrupted play for what turned out to be the last time, 84 runs were required for victory off 90 balls with seven wickets in hand.
This looked well within range but, when play was able to be resumed with five overs still available, the target had been reduced to a straight forward 33 off 30 balls that was accomplished with 8 balls to spare.
Front-line bowler Jamie Overton injured a leg while batting and he was unable to bowl more than one over which was a severe handicap to England.
