SA bow out in semis

South Africa put up a brave defence of their Hong Kong Super Sixes’ title before bowing out to a much stronger and more experienced Pakistan side at the semi-final stage.

The Pakistan side included full internationals in Shoaib Malik, Imran Nazir and Shabbir Ahmed. The former two are both contenders for the Pakistan World Cup side although not involved in the current ODI series against the Proteas.

Pakistan posted a huge total of 138 in their 5 overs to win comfortably by 50 runs.

In the final against Australia, Pakistan posted another big total of 132 and but still lost after Australia needed 50 runs for victory off the last 9 balls.

Nazir conceded 48 runs in the last over which he did not even complete as a result of the clutch of wides he bowled.

Australia were also captained by a full international in David Warner.
