Ryder faces disciplinary snag

Wellington - Troubled New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder has a snag to overcome ahead of his attempted cricket comeback in the Indian Premier League after being reported by an umpire over an altercation with a rival player in a club match.

Cricket Wellington confirmed Monday it has received the report on the incident and said it has been passed on to a disciplinary commissioner.

Ryder is reported to have been restrained by the umpire while batting for his Naenae Old Boys club team, after a verbal exchange with a bowler.

The hard-hitting batsman is due to play for the Pune Warriors in this month's IPL. He plans to pay for his clinical psychologist and his manager to join him in India for the term of his contract as he contends with alcohol and other issues.
