Rain delays England v SL Test

Cardiff - Rain delayed the scheduled 12:00 SA time start of the third day's play in the first Test between England and Sri Lanka at Sophia Gardens on Saturday.

England were 47 for one in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings 400, a deficit of 353, after captain Andrew Strauss was dismissed shortly before Friday's close for 20.

Alastair Cook was 24 not out and nightwatchman James Anderson unbeaten on one in England's first Test since they completed a 3-1 Ashes win in Australia in January.

This is the first of a three-Test series.
