Cape Town - Proteas batsman Stiaan van Zyl will face his national side when Sussex host the Proteas in the first warm-up match on Friday at Hove.
The 50-over match is one of two warm-up games that the Proteas are playing on UK soil before taking on England at Headingley on Wednesday, June 24.
Proteas skipper AB de Villiers will be hoping for some vital preparation before their three-match ODI series with England and the ICC Champions Trophy starting June 1.
According to the English county's website, the Sussex Sharks go into the warm-up after their Royal London One-Day Cup encounter with Hampshire was completely washed out.
This left Sussex unable to qualify for the play-off stages of this season's tournament.
Former English batsman Luke Wright will captain the side while Van Zyl, who has played 12 Tests for South Africa, is in line to play against the Proteas.
Van Zyl, 29, signed a three-year Kolpak contract with Sussex last year, which means the Cape Cobras batsman is ineligible to play for South Africa in international cricket.
The warm-up match between the Sussex and Proteas at Hove gets underway at 15:00 SA time.
On Sunday, the Proteas face Northamptonshire in the second warm-up match.
