Rabada: Barmy Army no intimidation

Cape Town - There has been a strong contingent of away support at both the Kingsmead and the Newlands Test matches in the ongoing series between South Africa and England.

In fact, in Durban it was sometimes hard to tell whether there were more South Africans or Englishmen in the crowd.

South Africa clearly won that battle at Newlands on Saturday, but the English presence was still strong.

Proteas seamer Kagiso Rabada was questioned by one English journalist as to what it was like playing at home in front of so many away supporters, and whether it felt like he was a part of the away side as a result.

But, despite being just 20-years-old, the three-wicket hero from Saturday was not taking the bait.

"Well the Barmy Army haven’t been singing that much," he said.

"I haven’t really felt their presence too much, but I know they’re there.

"The South African support was magnificent today. I didn’t feel like I was away, I felt like I was home.

"Even if they sing out loud, I know that we’re home ... we’re in our backyard."

Rabada took 3/74 on Saturday, but the Proteas are still very much on the back foot after England finished on 317/5 at stumps.
