Philander back in top 10 rankings

Cape Town - There is at least some positive news for the Proteas coming off their embarrassing 211-run loss in the first Test against England at Lord's.

Proteas seamer Vernon Philander has returned to the Top 10 of the ICC Test Rankings.

Philander took 3/67 in the first innings and could only bowl five overs in the second innings after injuring his hand.

Proteas batsman Temba Bavuma, who made 59 and 21 moved up four places to reach 41st.

Philander also moved up eight places to 66th in the batting rankings.

In the bowling table, Philander and Morne Morkel have gained one place each to sit 10th and 13th, respectively.

Meanwhile, England skipper Joe Root jumped ahead of New Zealand's Kane Williamson to secure second place on the ICC Test batsman rankings.

The second Test begins at Trent Bridge on Friday, 14 July.
