KP quick to praise victorious England

Cape Town - Unwanted England batsman Kevin Pietersen was quick to heap praise on his former team after winning the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban.

England were comprehensive 241-run victors before lunch on Day 5 of the opening Test.

Pietersen, 35, who was born in nearby Pietermaritzburg, took to Twitter on Wednesday to post his congratulations.

Pietersen made special mention of another KwaZulu-Natal-born England player, Nick Compton, who, playing in is 10th Test and first in South Africa, scored 85 and 49 in the match. 

Pietersen played 104 Tests for England, scoring 8 181 runs at an average of 47.28.
