Hussey heaps praise on De Villiers

Cape Town - Former Australian batsman Michael Hussey has heaped praise on South Africa’s AB de Villiers after the latter’s reached the 100-Test milestone.

The rain in Bangalore looks to be saving South Africa from a second straight defeat against India, but it did not come before De Villiers notched 85 in his milestone Test.

Tributes have poured in for De Villiers over the past few days, and the latest to join the chorus of praise is Hussey, who scored 6 235 runs in 79 Tests for the Baggy Greens.

"What I see in AB de Villiers is enormous talent and enormous skill,” Hussey said via a video posted on Cricket South Africa's official Facebook page.

“That’s a part of it. And the other thing I really love about AB de Villiers is his character... probably more than anything. It seems that even if the team’s going really well or he's going really well personally - or the team's going really poorly or he's not making runs - he’s a very consistent character. He’s up there in the top echelon of players and people.”

Hussey, 40, has done some work as a batting consultant to the Proteas in recent times.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
