Domingo puzzled by Proteas’ failures

Cape Town - Proteas coach Russell Domingo does not have the answers on why the team keeps underperforming on the big stage.

The Proteas returned to South Africa on Tuesday following another failed World Twenty20 campaign.

The South Africans failed to reach the semi-finals after group stage losses to England and the West Indies.

“I can’t put my finger on it. We’re just not playing well in the big moments,” Domingo was quoted as saying by Netwerk24.

“The cricketing public needs to understand we played in tough conditions in India and we lost several big name players over the last few years.”

Domingo, whose current contract only expires in April 2017, said he would like to remain as Proteas coach.

“To me it still looks like a happy team. And yes, I’d like to continue as coach and achieve big things with this team. It however remains a big challenge.”
