De Kock passed fit for 4th Test

Cape Town - The Proteas have received a timely boost with news that Quinton de Kock has passed a fitness test and will play against England in the fourth Test in Pretoria starting on Friday.

De Kock bizarrely injured himself on the eve of the third Test at the Wanderers while taking his dogs for a walk.

Dane Vilas, on franchise duty with the Cape Cobras at the time, was flown in as an emergency replacement.

Proteas management have trimmed the Test squad with both Vilas and fast bowler Hardus Viljoen released to play for their respective franchises in the Sunfoil Series.

Viljoen will join up with the Highveld Lions who face the Titans in a top of the table clash in Potchefstroom, while Vilas returns to the Cape Cobras who are away to the Dolphins in Durban.

Batsman Rilee Rossouw was released earlier on Tuesday and will rejoin the Knights who face the Warriors in East London.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
