Zondi replaces Hudson as selection chief

Cape Town - Linda Zondi has been appointed as Cricket South Africa’s convener of selectors, replacing Andrew Hudson, who resigned after the World Cup.

The other three independent selectors appointed to the national selection panel are - Hussein Manack, Errol Stewart and Ashwell Prince, while Proteas head coach Russell Domingo will serve as the fifth member of the selection panel.

“I wish to thank the previous selection panel for the important role played by them and welcome on board the new selection panel,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.

“Linda was part of the previous selection panel and I want to congratulate him on his progression to the convener role. It is an important role and his past experience on the panel plus as the Dolphins selection convener and as the convener of the national Under-19 selection panel will all stand him in good stead. He has established an outstanding record in identifying young talent as was seen with his contribution to the success of last year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign.

“The panel’s appointment takes effect immediately and will be for a two year-period,” added Lorgat.

Meanwhile, Domingo also had his contract extended until April 30, 2017, while Charl Langeveldt was appointed bowling coach in place of Allan Donald.

CSA has otherwise kept the same management team with Adrian Birrell staying on as assistant coach and Claude Henderson retained as spin bowling coach.
