Wiese gets SA A ODI call

Johannesburg - David Wiese, one of the heroes of the Ticketpro Proteas victory over the West Indies in the final KFC T20 international at Kingsmead on Wednesday evening, has been called up to the South Africa A squad for the ODI Series against the England Lions.

He provides cover for Ryan McLaren who has suffered a grade 2 strain of the left hamstring which will require a recovery period of two to four weeks. McLaren will remain with the squad for the rehabilitation process.

Wiese topped the bowling averages in the three-match T20 series with nine wickets at 9.55 which was more than twice as many wickets as any other bowler on either side. He finished the series with a five-wicket haul – only the second South African bowler after McLaren to achieve this feat in the shortest format.

This made him only the second South African bowler, after McLaren, to achieve this feat in the 20-over format.

SA A four-day squad:

Justin Ontong (captain), Temba Bavuma, Gihahn Cloete, Theunis de Bruyn, Marchant de Lange, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Rory Kleinveldt, Eddie Leie, Ryan McLaren, Chris Morris, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada, Rudi Second, Stiaan van Zyl and David Wiese.
