Steyn, Kallis back on track

Cape Town - Dale Steyn and Jacques Kallis are on track to be back to full fitness in time for the Proteas’ tour to the United Arab Emirates to play Pakistan in the second half of October and November.

The Proteas’ limited overs squads will play two Pro20 International matches and five ODIs while the Test squad will have two five-day games.

Both Steyn (concussion and back injury) and Kallis (neck injury) have been out of action since the Champions League Twenty20 last month.

Neither will play any part in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe which starts in Bloemfontein on Friday (14:30).

The remaining matches will be in Potchefstroom, on Sunday, and Benoni, on the following Friday.

Morne Morkel, who injured his ankle while fielding in the Pro20 International against Zimbabwe last Friday, had his first bowling session since then on Wednesday, operating at 50 percent off a 12-pace run-up.

He is expected to be available for selection at some stage of the ODI series.

Albie Morkel, who was also injured during the Champions League Twenty20, has made a full recovery and bowled full-out in the middle on Wednesday.
