Pretoria - West Indies bowler Kemar Roach may miss the Boxing Day Test in Port Elizabeth with a right ankle injury, which is more serious than originally anticipated.
Roach sustained an injury to his right ankle while running into bowl his 16th over on the opening day's play in the first Test against South Africa, in Centurion on Wednesday. He did not come out to bat in the West Indies first innings on Friday.
Team officials confirmed on Saturday morning that Roach would not bat in the West Indies second innings, and would be in serious doubt for the rest of the tour.
The bowler's ankle suffered considerable swelling and he was unable to put any weight on it --two days after picking up the injury.
